Job Description:
As a Copywriter/Junior Copywriter, you will create compelling, culturally relevant content for our clients looking to reach Asian American consumers and communities. We’re seeking a talented individual fluent in Chinese (Mandarin, spoken and written) and proficient in English.
You are a creative soul with a practical mindset, an out of the box thinker, always coming up with new ideas for old problems. You have a knack for languages and love reading and writing. You are excited about working with words – crafting, translating, editing, choosing the right word with the right nuance for different contexts. You are passionate about creating and have a strong interest in visual as well as verbal creative expressions, with a good eye for detail and style.
You love pop culture, both Asian and American, and understand trends. You are fascinated by people and the differences (and similarities) of different cultures. You are a good communicator and know how to express yourself and deliver key points, regardless of language barriers.
You are collaborative, respectful, proactive, and open-minded. We are a small agency built on these principles, so it’s important that you live these values as well.
Key Responsibilities:
- Write engaging, persuasive copy in Chinese and English for U.S. Asian markets.
- Trans-create English content into high-quality Chinese copy, ensuring cultural nuances are accurately represented, contexts and intentions of the original work are maintained. You will also provide reverse translation.
- Proofread and edit copy to maintain high-quality standards and accuracy in both languages.
- Assist the Creative Director in generating creative ideas for diverse campaigns across different media platforms.
- Manage administrative tasks, including project coordination, freelancer coordination, and billing.
- Stay updated with industry and multicultural marketing trends.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree plus at least 1 year experience in a related field preferred. We are open to Junior to mid-level copywriters.
- Bilingual: fluent in Chinese (Mandarin, traditional or simplified) and proficiency in English is mandatory.
- Strong language skills, able to capture the essence of the ad copy or content while maintaining cultural authenticity.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both languages.
- Previous copywriting or translation experience is a plus.
- Understanding of Asian cultures and experience working within Asian markets.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Creative mindset, adaptable in a fast-paced environment.
- Proactive and passionate about work and life.
- Proficient/comfortable with various software tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Google suite, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Slack, etc.
